Perfect Attendance!
The first full day of school is usually exciting for a variety of reasons.... meeting new friends and seeing lifelong friends, the anticipation of what the new classes will be like, and looking forward to many hours of studying in the year ahead. And there is that little heartbreak knowing that the entire family is not on the Hill. But MHS students know that prayers are answered loud and clear. Coach Patterson called all the seniors to the library to gripe talk about the parking situation around campus and decided to take the entire class out to demonstrate how to park correctly. As they walked up to a certain "example" vehicle they saw who was responsible for it being in the middle of the road - Drew. Drew Bouchillon had asked to come back to campus to say hello to everyone.
Drew was visited outside by his classmates and football team as the cameras started clicking away. He had left the hospital and was on his way to rehab, so his visit was much shorter than many would have liked. His visit caught almost everyone by surprise. But not to be outdone, the students gave up their break (and their first Skyedome breakfast of the year) to give Drew a very rare and special ceremony - a "Line the Drive" - an honor that is usually reserved for teams heading to championships (and one still very confused UPS driver). But unlike any other "Line the Drive" in the history of MHS, a group of classmates wanted him to stay and ceremonially blocked the exit. |
