EDLINE Registration Information

As most of you already know by now, a letter was sent to all MHS parents concerning information and registration for the EDLINE program being instituted this year by MHS.  The text of this letter is as follows:

"August 21, 2007

Dear Parents,

Thanks to the advancement of modern technology, you will now be able to view your child's grades and assignments over the internet. You will be able to view the averages in each subject as well as each separate activity (homework, test, quiz). Grades and assignments will be uploaded to Edline on a weekly basis. Therefore, grades for a test taken on Friday will not be available on Saturday. You will also be able to view the assignments for each of your student's classes.

Each family will receive an activation code unique only to them. This code will allow you, and only you, to activate Edline for each MHS student that you have and to set up your user name and password. To receive your activation code please go to the MHS website (www.magnoliaheights.com), click on the Edline Code Activation link, and fill out and submit the form, or you may fill out the enclosed form and bring it in person to the school (3K - 6th Elementary Guidance Office, 7-12 Secondary Guidance Office). Students will be issued their own individual codes at school. Edline will only allow parents and students to view the grades and assignments. No changes can be made to student records with parent or student access codes and your student's records may only be viewed by the school, the student, and those that you allow to have the code.

We are very excited about the opportunities that Edline provides in the area of communication between Magnolia Heights and parents. We believe that this added layer of communication will improve the educational experience for parents, students, and teachers. As with any new technology, there is a learning curve for each side of the communication process, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

As always, thank you for choosing Magnolia Heights for your child's education.

Sincerely,

Dr. Marvin W. Lishman, Ph.D.
Headmaster

You are at the right spot for the registration, but you will have to fill out a form contained in the links below.  This form is a new way to transmit information to the school and will be utilized more often on this website.  Greater than 99% of the website content is from MHS to you.  This will be a new way, in certain circumstances, to communicate information back to MHS without having to pick up the telephone or sending a note with your student(s).  We have strived to make this easy as possible and many users should be able to use this entry technique without any trouble.  But we will need to go through some steps and explain what is needed.

1) The first thing that is needed is the Adobe Reader version 7 or above.  It is a free program and is already installed on most computers running Windows XP or Vista.  If you go to the news section and can open the publication for the Booster Club Skeet Shoot information then you already have Adobe Reader installed and working properly.  If you do not have Adobe Reader then you can download it here.

2) Click on the link below and Adobe should open up with the form.  Please note that the form has some required fields.  These MUST be filled out for verification purposes.

3) Please note that we are asking for email and cell phone numbers.  The cell numbers are optional (but we highly recommend inclusion) and are for SMS (text) messaging purposes and emergency situations which will be explained in more detail later.  For example, MHS will use SMS text messages to alert of school closures due to snow before the website is changed and long before the news and radio outlets receive the information. When you enter cell information please include the cellular provider in the drop down list.  Be assured that this information will only be available to the administration of the school.  It will NOT be included in any directory nor will it be available to students and non essential personnel.

4) After filling out the form you can print it on your own printer for your records and/or hit the email button.  The email section will ask for an email client such as Outlook or Outlook Express.  After sending the form data via email, there is no need to save the data, but you may print it out for your records or to mail it in.

5)  Once we have received your information, we will process it and you will receive login information.  You will be able to use the link at the bottom of the MHS main web page.  The direct link to EDLINE should always be available on the MHS main page.
